PDF or Word to PPT: distill the document, then generate

Start from a report, proposal or meeting notes file. Check the extracted text and the outline before generating an editable presentation, instead of pasting the document onto slides paragraph by paragraph.

Decide first: convert the format, or restructure

If you only need each PDF page turned into a slide as it is, a file converter is the better tool. Most of the time, though, a long report or proposal does not belong on screen as written. It needs distilling into a structure you can present: conclusion first, one point per slide, detail left for the talk or an appendix.

Before you start, write down who the presentation is for and what it should achieve, for example "show leadership the pilot results and ask for next-phase budget". The same document should become a different outline for a different audience.

Import the document and check what was read

Myo imports PDF, Word (DOCX), PowerPoint, Markdown and plain text files, or you can paste only the relevant passages. Import reads selectable text only and shows you what it read first. Text inside scans or images is not read, so convert those to a file with selectable text.

For a long document, remove sections unrelated to this presentation before importing, or name the focus in your brief, such as "use only the data in chapter 3". Add the audience, goal and tone so the outline stays on one purpose.

Fix the outline, then generate and export

The outline appears card by card, and you can edit any title in place. Compare it with the source: check that no key conclusion is missing and that background material has not become a main point, then generate. Afterwards, change text, chart data or a slide's layout right on the canvas, or describe a change and let AI rewrite that slide.

Before exporting, check every number's definition and source. The exported PPTX keeps native text and charts, so you can keep editing in PowerPoint. To use your company's existing layouts, turn a deck you already use into a template first, then generate from the document.

Example prompt for a document

From the imported pilot summary report, prepare a 7-slide update for leadership: pilot conclusion, background and goals, key data, problems encountered, cost and resources, next-phase recommendation and the decisions needed. Use only numbers from the report and add no conclusions it does not contain.

Adapt this example with your own facts and numbers before generating.
